“واکین فینیکس و اما استون در وسترن معاصر و کمدی سیاه آری استر”

فیلم Eddington (ادینگتون)، جدیدترین و یکی از مورد انتظارترین آثار نویسنده و کارگردان مؤلف و صاحب سبک، آری استر (Ari Aster)، خالق شاهکارهای ترسناک روانشناختی Hereditary و Midsommar است. این فیلم که محصول استودیوی تحسین‌شده A24 می‌باشد، با گروهی از بزرگترین ستارگان حال حاضر هالیوود از جمله واکین فینیکس (Joaquin Phoenix)، اما استون (Emma Stone)، پدرو پاسکال (Pedro Pascal) و آستین باتلر (Austin Butler)، یک “وسترن معاصر” با رگه‌هایی از کمدی سیاه را به تصویر می‌کشد.

داستان فیلم در شهر کوچک و دورافتاده ادینگتون در نیومکزیکو و در یک زمان بسیار خاص یعنی ماه می سال 2020 (در اوج تنش‌ها و پارانویای اوایل همه‌گیری کرونا) اتفاق می‌افتد. داستان با یک “رویارویی و تقابل” (standoff) بین کلانتر شهر کوچک و شهردار آن آغاز می‌شود. این درگیری بین دو مقام قدرتمند محلی، به سرعت مانند جرقه‌ای عمل کرده و “بشکه باروت” شهر را منفجر می‌کند.

این تقابل، از یک اختلاف نظر ساده فراتر رفته و به یک بحران تمام‌عیار تبدیل می‌شود که تمام جامعه کوچک ادینگتون را در بر می‌گیرد. به زودی، همسایه در برابر همسایه قرار می‌گیرد و خطوط وفاداری، دوستی و اعتماد در هم می‌شکند. تنش‌های پنهان، ترس‌ها و تعصبات مردم شهر به سطح آمده و ادینگتون به صحنه یک جنگ داخلی کوچک و بی‌رحمانه تبدیل می‌شود.

با توجه به سبک منحصر به فرد آری استر، Eddington فراتر از یک تریلر جنایی ساده خواهد بود. انتظار می‌رود این فیلم یک کاوش روانشناختی عمیق در باب فروپاشی اجتماعی، پارانویا، و تاریکی پنهان در جوامع کوچک باشد که با طنزی سیاه و فضاسازی استادانه همراه است. انتخاب زمان داستان در سال 2020 نیز به طور حتم نقشی کلیدی در تشدید حس انزوا و بی‌اعتمادی حاکم بر فیلم خواهد داشت. Eddington بدون شک یکی از مهم‌ترین و بحث‌برانگیزترین رویدادهای سینمایی سال 2025 خواهد بود.
