Suicide Mission

Three of U96’s torpedo’s connect, sinking two freighters in the convoy initially. The crew’s jubilation is short-lived as they switch to silent running to avoid the British Destroyers using ASDIC/Sonar to find and attack them. The relentless depth charge attacks push one sailor beyond his limit. Upon rediscovering the third, damaged, freighter the captain makes a decision with devastating consequences. While heading towards their home port in Larochelle, a triple encoded signal from headquarters interrupts their plans.
