مستند

فیلم مستند (به انگلیسی: Documentary film)، که شاخه‌ای بزرگ از صنعت تصاویر متحرک را شامل می‌شود، به منظور مستندسازی جنبه‌هایی از واقعیت ساخته می‌شود. در ابتدا فیلم مستند، یک فیلم سینمایی بود که بر روی فیلم (نگاتیو) – که تنها وسیلهٔ موجود در آن زمان بود – ضبط و پخش می‌شد اما امروزه شامل ویدئو و آثار تولیدی دیجیتالی می‌شود که می‌توان آن‌ها را مخصوص پخش ویدئویی به عنوان برنامه‌ای تلویزیونی یا برای نمایش در سینما ساخت. فیلم مستند را به عنوان «یک تکنیک فیلم‌سازی، یک سنت سینمایی و شیوه‌ای از تقابل با مخاطب» که دائماً در حال تحول است و هیچ مرزی نمی‌شناسد تعریف کرده‌اند.
